JeSET
Vilnius 2010
(Jesuit Schools European Sports Tournament)
organised by Vilnius Jesuit High School in Lithuania responds to
its beginners
- the tournamanet organised in Spain in 1991 and its successor,
Saveriadi 2006
that took place in Rome, Italy, four years ago. Those events gave a
stimulus for
potential succession of sports cooperation between the youngsters of
Jesuit
schools of Europe.
JeSET
aims to
offer the students a possibility to meet their peers, to learn how
different
and similar they are, to get a taste of Ignatian spirituality, to get
acquainted
different cultures and to challenge in fair play at sports events.
Obviously, at
the end of the events we saw happy faces, heard sincere thanks and
questions
when next JeSET is going to be organised. We hope that this eye-to-eye
contact
through the way of sports proved to be a very successful way of
communication
between different Jesuit schools. We are also very glad that this
tournament
greatly commemorated the jubilee of 15 years since the school has been
restored
and the 440th year of the establishment of Collegium
Vilnense Societatis Jesu (the earliest form of Vilnius Jesuit High
School).
